Batik making

Tried batik making the other day. As you can see the 3 pictures show you the developmental phases of painting. Here is a picture with all the flowers colored first.

My first layer background was yellow. I dabbed spots of wax on the yellow background.

After that painted over the yellow with dark blue. That was my second and final layer. Finally, I placed it at a place near indirect sunlight for the paint to set.

Poison Ivy

Or Bollywood Veggies as it being named. Located at Neo Tiew Road. It was quite a drive to this place. Here's a link for the map.

Here's a picture I took of the signboard reminding drivers to switch off their engines quickly to reduce air pollution.

It's a really Eco friendly place and healthy eating place. Something that I really liked.

A couple of things to do when you're there. Go straight to the restaurant to have some local food being served. There's a no MSG and LOW salt cooking style. The best part it, the vegetable that are served are all picked up fresh from their very own farm.

Here's a look at the spread. Delicious and Mouth Watering. Sat down and had a lovely lunch with a family friend. Had lemon grass tea, as you can see at the bottom of the picture. The lemon grass you can guess is also from the farm. Had a pleasant conversation with the people around the table and even the owner popped by to have a chat with us.

After the lunch, we spent the rest of the afternoon touring the farm. If my memory doesn't fail me, it's about the size of 4 football field.

Afternoon BBQ

Livin the life, aussie style. A family friend of mine was the one who initiated this. He bought all the stuff from Giant Supermarket. We had japanese tapioca, fish, steak, hot dogs, cherries, sauces and some chips to munch along.

Here's the picture of our makeshift portable BBQ pit. It's basically an aluminium tray, charcoal and the mesh. Starting the fire was not that difficult. Just need a couple of firestarters.

Grillin' the fish and the steak.

Here's the fish. Yummy.

Kayaking around Changi Beach

Went to NSRCC Constant Wind at Changi for Kayaking. Had a good view of the coast from the sea. Paddled around the coast for bout an hour. Resting in between and taking pictures of the scenery from the Sea.

The trick to have more powerful strokes with your paddle is to hold the paddle more than shoulder width apart. My friend pointed out to me that I was not holding it the proper way, no wonder I felt so tired after just a few minutes of paddling. Once I got it right, moving around was much more comfortable and less tiring.

We tried the water bike too and had a lovely afternoon BBQ to end the day. A wonderful way to spend a weekend afternoon. Will post the pics of the water bike and afternoon BBQ in my next post.

Pink t-shirt & Red Go Kart

This was taken in Pulau Langkawi a few years back. Was totally unprepared for a Go Kart Racing day. Was driving around the island in our rented van and we came across this place.

It was like, WTH... might as well. And damn, it was well worth it. The Kart was much more powerful and faster than the one in JB and its also nuthin compared to the one in S'pore.

Went around like 6 laps. It's not a race though. It's a time trial. So at the end of the session. The counter guy will give u a receipt like thingy and it shows you the time that u took to complete each lap. It's kinda easy to drive. Just two pedals. An accelerator and a brake pedal. At the end of the session, you feel your adrenalin still pumpin and a numb behind that last for minutes.

climb

My first time going up a fossil wall. It was an uphill task though. Almost gave up halfway ... but then i tot not. Took a breather here and there. Locking my knees and feet against the crevices and let loose my hands.

The view from up there was daunting when resting in between ... however, when u have reached the top most, and looking down was not that bad at all. It felt calm and victorious i suppose.

would love to scale the wall again in the future.

Ubin

here's a pic of me on a bumboat. We caught the early morning ferry to Ubin and spent the whole morning there. We left in the mid afternoon.

Cycling there was great. Lots of uphills and downhills. Dangerous curves and rough terrains.
Rented MTB and the fully suspension set up was the best to go around the island.

Managed only to cover the eastern part of Ubin. Had a good workout there, ... all those cycling and trekking.

We trekked at Chek Jawa. Managed to see some off shore animals. Not much though cos the tide was already coming in when we arrived. But still, its the experience that counts. Would love to go there again when the tide is at its lowest.

All the walking and exercising really made us hungry. We ended the day with a yummy nice plate of Nasi Ayam Penyet and a cool sweet Sugar Cane Lemon Juice at a hawker centre at Changi Village.
